When
Alan Stevenson constructed the Skerryvore Lighthouse, he was serving the needs of shipping. His work-force on
Tiree required accommodation, which subsequently served the lighthouse-keepers' needs for a shore station and homes. They eventually became run-down.
The Hebridean Trust was set up to preserve the buildings and to give them a new purpose. This re-construction is on-going, attracts many island visitors and deserves our attention.
