Sale on Stour

If you have followed the blog's short series of items on remote properties, here's one that's up for sale. The auction of Hurdiback on Papa Stour in the Shetland group will be at 18.30 on Thursday 31 January. The guide price is £120k and this includes a five-apartment farmhouse, a three-apartment bunkhouse, a range of outbuildings, 120 acre coastal croft and 60 additional acres of free grazing. Bidding is in person, on-line, by phone or through commission bids.

What an opportunity for the right buyers!
Hope the sale goes well and that you are able to blog the result in due course.

We presume that photo 2 is the view from the house?

What an opportunity for the right people.

Best of luck to the vendors and hope you can publish the result in due course?

  3. There is a good view from the house, across the bay into which the West Burrafirth ferry arrives and departs, but the second photograph is of another side of Papa Stour from the mainland. This would be taken from close to Melby where the A971 ends. Thanks for requesting clarification.

  4. Beautiful Island, what a lifestyle! Is there still a school on the island? And is there opportunity for a shop?

  5. The school has been 'mothballed' and the opportunity for a shop has diminished now that the population is in single figures.

  6. The Croft House in my opinion needs flattening and start again, the roof is leaking, the property smells of diesel, pools of water in the house, and the so called 60 acres of Free Grazing does not belong to the owner. The out buildings are in poor condition and some buildings have fallen down, what a waste of a journey, this has been a false descrption advert.
