The Temperance Hall at Kettletoft, Sanday, was built in 1894 to encourage not just temperance, or moderation, but abstinence from alcohol among residents, in general, and seafarers, in particular. Now, 120 years later - after a period of dereliction - the building has been revived as the Sanday Heritage Centre and opened its doors to the public last weekend.
