Lighthouses to Luxury

The Northern Lighthouse Board's tender Fingal was built in 1963 and for the rest of the century serviced remoter parts of the Scottish coast, working out of Oban (above) for 30 years and Stromness for six. Then it was sold and became known as the Windsor Castle. Appropriately it is to be converted and follow in the wake of another well-known ship by becoming a luxury hotel at Leith, where the Royal Yacht Britannia is berthed.
