Benbecula Airport in the Western Isles is the first civil airport in Scotland to have its runways illuminated by LED ground lighting. These are evident at London Heathrow and Manchester, but at few other destinations. An advantage is that they are more resistant to sea-air and sand corrosion. Read more in the Stornoway Gazette.
