Skerries Air Ferries
In recent years, Shetland's Out Skerries has had its tiny secondary school closed, its primary school mothballed and its air service to Tingwall suspended. The educational changes involved a lack of pupils; the loss of aircraft was owing to insufficient volunteers as airstrip firefighters. Now eight people have come forward for training and flights will be resumed at a future date. Read the item in Shetland News and consider, when possible, flying in. It is one of the world's shortest runways for commercial use.
