When the Royal Navy's newest aircraft carrier, 
HMS Queen Elizabeth, sailed into 
Scapa Flow yesterday, it was part of a tribute to 
Edwin Dunning who there, a hundred years ago, had performed the first landing of a plane on a ship, 
HMS Furious.
