No Bank Branch on Barra?
Things certainly look quiet at the Royal Bank of Scotland branch in Castlebay, Barra. There are around 1100 residents on the island and, apparently, they do not bring sufficient business - so the building could be replaced by a visiting mobile bank. The growing popularity of internet banking linked with ATMs (automated teller machines) is an international trend and there are many people throughout Brtiain who, despite having many choices, never set foot in a bank branch. However, the announcement of possible closure may lead to a surge of use here. Read more on the BBC website.
