Getting to
Sandwood Bay in the far north-west of the Scottish mainland is considerably more arduous than reaching many islands. However, its massive beach is well worth the effort and just offshore is the sea-stack,
Am Buachaille, known as
'The Shepherd'. It was first climbed in 1968 and on
