The residents of Canna are not on the national grid for electricity supplies and have had to rely on diesel generators. Now their power comes indirectly from the Atlantic winds via turbines, similar to those on Eigg (above). The Press and Journal has an account of this harnessing of what is now an asset.

My apologies - for not immediately recognising the outline of Eigg, pictured, rather than Canna, profiled. I should have known better for I have visited one and sailed around both in a yacht! John
