A Lost World
The last inhabitants left Swona, in the Pentland Firth, in 1974. They left a herd of cattle - one bull and eight cows of a cross between Aberdeen Angus and Shorthorn. Five generations later these animals have become feral, continue to thrive and have been classified as a new breed.
