Caithness for Shetland?
That horizon beyond Gills Bay, Caithness, could herald a new hub - for Shetland as well as its existing links to Orkney. Pentland Ferries are considering, as a commercial venture, operating a summer only service to Lerwick. It would take some six-and-a-half hours, but would be shorter than the journey from Aberdeen by NorthLink. Passengers would then also have the scenic stimuli of the road and rail routes north of Inverness. Read in Shetland News about the ideas that are being floated. The photograph below comes from a SmugMug gallery from an interesting community.

What about the photo above? That is just superb.
It comes from Pentland Ferries which operate out of Gills Bay and is of that location with a stretch of sea - 'the offing' - between the shore and the horizon.
