The Papar Project
Yesterday's blog was an attempt to arouse interest in Papa Stour - either for settling or visiting. Its cave (above) is waiting to be explored; its waiting room (below) is ready to be used. Other aspects may appeal with the derivations of the names 'Papa' / 'Papay' / 'Pabbay' and variants that proliferate in the Scottish islands. They reflect the coming of priests as in communities or as solitaries and a study of them, The Papar Project, is worth dipping into or leading to an in-depth study.
