Gen-up on Unst

Read about the potential production of hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen by Pure Energy on the island of Unst. If the community can produce sufficient quantities, it can only be shipped / piped / pumped one way and that's southwards. Shetland News has the story.

European Marine Energy Centre (Orkney) has just received £1.35million grant to develop a similar project in partnership with Eday Community Windturbine. They will link with EMEC's tidal generator in a project called Surf n' Turf. Hydrogen gas will then fuel Orkney ferries on the piers overnight. May also make fertilizer. Richard Clubley.
