Real pier enthusiasts might like to know about a couple of books I've enjoyed recently: "Clyde Coast Piers" and "Piers of the Hebrides and Western Isles". Both by Alistair Deayton and published by Amberley. Piers, like the boats they serve, are such vital parts of island life, no wonder they stir such emotions - or am I just a very sad individual? Not sad at all - just an appreciater of some of the quiet and finer things of life!
Thanks for the books tip
